Snehal Sonani, Reshma Sonani.

Abstract
The increased use of traditional medicine in last decade suggests its effectiveness and safety over allopathic medicine. Many criteria have been used to prove its efficacy. In present work, an effort is made to prove efficacy of one of such traditional medicine. The study was carried out with an objective to check the clinical efficacy of Katupila (Securinega leucopyrus Linn) leaves powder in management of chronic wound. The application of Kapitula leaves (mixture of Kapitula leaves powder and honey) was found to enhance the healing of chronically infected wound at submandibular region. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity of Kapitula leaves and bark was assessed using agar-diffusion method against one Gram +ve and two Gram -ve bacteria. Kapitula leaves and bark showed significant antibacterial activity. With this, it is concluded that the antibacterial activity of Kapitula can be one of the factors, contributing to its wound-healing activity.
