Integral Ayurveda And Yoga – An Upshot For Swarabheda Management

Abstract
Introduction – Voice is a mean of communicating verbal messages, which serves as a powerful carrier of personality in emotional, educational, and social status. Dysphonia is a very common ailment, affecting nearly one third of the population at some point in their life. The medicine in contempororary science for this condition is either conservative or surgical, which is cost worthy. In Ayurvedic preview, hoarseness of voice can be correlated to Swarabheda, having six types.
Methods and materials – A single case study, of a 19-year-old male, with complaints of hoarseness of voice since 5 year. He was diagnosed with Vata-Kaphaja Swarabheda and was treated with Marsha Nasya with Anutaila, Gandusha along with Yoga and Mudras for a month.
Results – The aforementioned Chikitsa was continued for whole 1 month, audio recording was taken before the treatment and after 15 days of completion of treatment. Both recordings reflect that the nature and quality of voice was significantly improved.
Discussion – Taking into account the factors associated with Nidanapanchaka. Due to chronic coryza, it has predominance of Kapha and Vata, so the treatment principle of Vata-Kaphaja Swarabheda along with Anubandha of Aama was adopted. Probable mode of action of which is explored in full paper.
