Harnessing the Vishagna Power of Ojovardhak Aahara in Ayurveda

Mrunal Amit Tiwari, Archana Dhananjay Inchekar.

Abstract
Ahara is responsible for the formation of sapta dhatus and Oja. It plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the 'bala' of the body against diseases. Oja is the Bala of the body. Ayurveda advocates for ahara that should be consumed regularly to form sara dhatu. Hence, a samyaka ahara is essential for the proper formation of oja. Toxicities pose hazards similar to vishadravya . An ojovardhak ahara contains properties that counteract the visha gunas. Ayurveda recommends regular consumption of dravya such as cow ghee, cow milk, and green gram. These dravya help to combat toxins into the body, due to their vishagna nature. Ayurveda emphasizes the nature of ahara of being vishgna on one side and toxic on the other hand. Viruddha ahara (incompatible foods) becomes toxic, similar to Garavisha, due to its harmful effects on the body. Sushruta has emphasized the importance of a snigdha ahara and exercise in detoxifying viruddha ahara's effects. Ayurveda recommends ahara which, when consumed regularly, enhances strength and causes no harm to the body.

Key words: Vishagna ahara, Nitya sevaniya ahara, Ojovardhak ahara,Balavardhak ahara
