Abstract
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) estimates that there were between 12 and 21 million opiate users worldwide in 2009. Opiate addiction gives physical and mental toxic effect along with inhibition of morality and social awareness. It is difficult to stop due to dependence. One Opium powder addicted patient taking smack smoking since 2 years and injection since 1 month was given ayurvedic treatment. Patient developed withdrawal symptoms due to sudden stoppage of Opium Powder and managed with Samirgajkesari Rasa, Agnitundi Vati, Kanakasav, Yograj Guggul, Abhyanga (Massage), Swedan (Sudation), Shiro-Abhyanga and Pranayam (Meditation). Samiragajkesari Rasa was tapered up
gradually along with supportive medication. At baseline Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) was found 20. One week and two weeks after the treatment, it reduced to 8, and 3 respectively. During the management, no complication was observed related with ayurvedic therapy .
