COVID-19 pandemic resurgence: Fixing the accountability for behavioral lapses

Sanjeev Rastogi, Ram Harsh Singh.

Abstract
Sickness is the outcome of a defiant and irresponsible behavior, as is recognized by seers of Ayurveda thousands of years ago. Prajyaparadha (committing a mistake knowingly) is presumed to be the master evil and a progenitor of snowball events leading to the multitude of unhealthy propositions. India is currently observing the 2nd wave of pandemic, much worse than the 1st wave observed in 2020 in terms of its virulence and morbidity potential. There are suggestive evidences that this sporadic resurgence of the pandemic has an association with erratic, irresponsible, defiant and increased risk taking behavior observed across the globe during the receding 1st wave. Thinking about pragyaparadha or committing the mistakes knowingly as a reason makes a sense in this context.

Key words: Pragyaparadha; Peltzman’s effect ; Pandemic; COVID-19
