Ethnographic Studies

Sanjeev Rastogi.

Abstract
Observational or behavioral studies are often been done with the help of directly asking the questions from the people. This is however being observed that the results of such studies where the people are directly asked for their choices remain far from reality. When people are asked about their personal liking or disliking, and when they know that they are being watched for their choices, they refrain from being honest and rather choose carefully for the socially acceptable answers. This is commonly observed that when the people are asked about the quality of the services , despite poor or best quality, most people choose to reply safe by counting it average or good rather than choosing it worst or excellent. In such cases the inferences made from such studies may be misleading.

Key words: Observational research, Qualitative research
