Prospective, Retrospective and Ambispective Studies and their role in Ayurveda Research

Sanjeev Rastogi.

Abstract
Prospective and retrospective study design refers to the time period in which the study is to be carried. In this perspective these are longitudinal studies encompassing a time span either from point of start of study to future (prospective) or to past (retrospective). These two approaches, due to the limitation of their scope of observation and access into various types of data, can answer only to some specific research questions and not the all.
